    Q-Think

A quantum-thinking workshop for the decisions that feel tangled, uncertain or stuck between two doors – run by quaStrat-certified strategists, with Q-Cards™ as the tool.

    Why decisions get stuck

A complex choice is rarely just A or B. Most decisions narrow too soon: the first framing becomes the only framing, two options become the only options, and the people affected but not in the room go unheard. Q-Think slows the first collapse down long enough to see the decision properly – and then moves it to a responsible next step.

    AORBC?

What other options are hidden by the way we ask the question?

    What it is

Q-Think is quaStrat's decision-enablement method. It borrows seven ideas from quantum physics as thinking prompts – not as physics – and turns each one into a practical move for a real decision. Participants work on their own live decisions, using the Q-Cards™ deck to draw questions they would not have asked on their own. Every session ends with a written Decision Record: the decision, what changed, the options now worth considering, the next step, and when it will be reviewed.

    Seven lenses, seven moves

Superposition – keep options open. Hold several credible paths in play before narrowing to one.

Uncertainty – mark what you don't know. Separate what is verified, what is assumed and what is genuinely unknown, and act with calibrated confidence.

Contextuality – challenge the frame. The order and wording of questions change what seems true. Consider the risks first, then the rewards, and see if your answer moves.

Entanglement – see connected effects. Important decisions touch people and systems beyond the room. Map them.

Interference – spot reinforcing forces. Some efforts amplify each other; others quietly cancel each other out.

Measurement – choose, and learn. Asking, measuring and announcing a decision can change behaviour. Anticipate it.

Tunnelling – find another route. Look for the small, legitimate opening in an obstacle that seems absolute – without pretending real constraints away.

These are thinking prompts inspired by quantum ideas – not claims that decisions are quantum events. See "Metaphor, not magic" below.

    Workshop formats

Q-Think Introduction · about an hour. A 25–30-minute introduction to the seven lenses, then a 15–25-minute Q-Shift where each participant works through one live decision of their own – one card from each suit, Observe → Explore → Connect → Act. Everyone leaves with a Decision Record.

Q-Lab for a team decision · 35–60 minutes per decision. For leadership meetings, partnerships and multi-stakeholder choices. The group agrees the decision, its owner and its boundaries; everyone reflects independently before comparing; dissent is recorded, not voted away. The session ends with an agreed move, an owner and a review date.

Programmes. An introduction followed by Q-Lab sessions on your team's live decisions, designed around your calendar and your hardest choices.

    How a session runs

    • Name the decision – "I need to decide whether or how to ___ by ___", with deadlines and non-negotiables.
    • Suspend premature closure – don't defend the first plausible option.
    • Use randomness for the question, never the answer – the draw disrupts habit; it is not a prediction or a command.
    • Answer before drawing again – 60–90 seconds per card; write an insight, an option or a fact to verify.
    • Separate facts and interpretations – a new perspective must not rewrite the evidence.
    • End with a move – a decision, a safe experiment, a crucial conversation, or a deliberate review date.
    • Return when reality changes – write what you expect, what would change your mind, and when you'll check.

    A worked example

Before: "Should I leave a secure job to start a business?" – a high-stakes choice framed as two doors.

Four cards later: Observe 01 · Reframe Reality – Is the real need autonomy, rather than resigning? Explore 15 · Both/And – Could a bounded side project work, within existing obligations? Connect 29 · Hidden Dependencies – What runway, customers, partners and family obligations matter? Act 47 · Smallest Bet – Five customer conversations and one small paid pilot.

After: "How can I validate this opportunity responsibly before resigning?" The decision becomes a test, not a leap.

An illustrative pathway, not advice to any particular person.

    How we judge a session

We judge Q-Think by what changes in the decision, not by how inspiring the questions felt. After every session we check five things:

Clarity – can you explain the actual decision and the outcomes that matter? Breadth – did at least one viable alternative appear that you hadn't considered? Integrity – did you surface weak evidence, affected people, trade-offs and a serious objection? Action – is there a named next step and a criterion for revisiting it? Learning – at review, how did what happened compare with what you expected?

    Metaphor, not magic

Q-Think is quantum-inspired, not quantum-powered. Quantum physics is a tested theory of physical systems. Quantum cognition is a research field that uses quantum probability mathematics to model some patterns of human judgement. Q-Think and Q-Cards™ borrow ideas from both as thinking prompts. They do not predict outcomes, they make no claim that human decisions are quantum events, and they are no substitute for evidence, expertise or ethics. For medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, seek qualified advice.

    How it connects to quaStrat

Formulating a decision properly is where most of its value is won or lost – a badly framed problem gives precise nonsense, however good the solver. Q-Think is that step, done by people, in the room. Many decisions end there, with a clear next move. Some turn out to need computation: when a team discovers that its choice has many interacting options under real constraints, the framing from Q-Think becomes the starting point for a custom build on the quaStrat engine.

    Who it's for

Leadership and strategy teams facing a defining choice; managers whose teams are stuck between two options; programme and policy teams with many stakeholders; and individuals working through a consequential personal or career decision.

    Who runs it

Every Q-Think workshop is designed and facilitated by a quaStrat-certified team. A good facilitator protects the inquiry – reading each prompt once, giving silent writing time, hearing quieter voices first – and never steers the draw towards a preferred answer.
